About us

Hey, we're SLIC!

The gay and lesbian initiative in Clausthal

SLIC offers you a space where you can talk to like-minded people without being watched. We meet every third Thursday of the month at the Psychosocial Counseling (PSB) office at Silberstraße 1. You can ask any questions you have in a relaxed atmosphere; we’re part of the LGBTQ+ community ourselves and can understand you, your concerns, and your hopes. Some of us are already out and can support you, while others are still preparing to come out. We want to help you find the courage! And if this platform isn’t enough for you, we can connect you with additional support. We know the resources available if, for example, you’re hesitant to face sensitive situations with your friends or family. You’re not alone!

When starting college, many students leave their familiar surroundings for the first time, move to a new city, and begin a new life. This offers a chance to experience new things and do things you didn’t dare to do before. But it’s also a chance to leave the past behind and break down barriers—for example, by coming out. That’s why the Gay and Lesbian Initiative in Clausthal (SLIC) exists for both out and in-closet gay men and lesbians. It serves as a first point of contact for coming out, which most gay men and lesbians experience as a relief and a liberation.

At our group evenings, we discuss topics that everyone brings to the table. The evenings take place in a close-knit circle. In addition to our regular meetings, we also organize recreational activities such as hiking, barbecues, bowling, and more. This fosters interaction in a relaxed atmosphere. We’re open to your ideas and look forward to what you have to offer.

If you have any issues with the website—such as requests, questions, or feedback—please let us know via the contact form. We’ll address them as soon as possible.
